Why Rogue Girls Fire Camp Matters

Women in fire service across the country make up about 9% of all firefighters, career and volunteer. Our goal is to improve those numbers.

Rogue Girls Fire Camp is an opportunity for young women to gain firsthand experience in structural firefighting. We want to instill confidence, build teamwork, teach skills, and provide hands-on training to inspire the women firefighters of tomorrow!

Meet Your Instructors

Captain/Paramedic, Ashland Fire & Rescue

Ashley Manning

Ashley has spent 18 years in fire service, including holding the ranks of firefighter and engineer, bringing a depth of experience and leadership to her current role as Captain. Ashley leads the department's technical rope rescue team, combining advanced skills with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Deputy Fire Marshal/EMT, City of Medford Fire Department

Samantha Metheny

Samantha has spent 34 years in fire service and emergency medicine, including wildland firefighting, EMT, and structural firefighting, and now as Deputy Fire Marshal. Samantha is assionate about public education and fire safety, and proud to have been Medford Fire’s first female career firefighter.

Kaci Carder

Kaci has been with Rogue Girls Fire Camp for five years and has a passion for teaching EMT students, training firefighters, hands-on operations. In the fire service, her favorite parts are Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search (VEIS) operations, forced entry, chainsaws, and hose deployments.

Firefighter/ EMT, Jackson County Fire District 3

Kendra Pinnell

Kendra began her fire service career as a student at Grant Pass Fire. She went on to serve as a Community Care Provider at Fire District 3, before spending time as a firefighter back in Grants Pass. Kendra returned to Fire District 3, where she's been for the past two years and is currently working toward becoming a move-up engineer.
